Pasar Gedhe Harjonagoro, or Pasar Gedhe, is a traditional market located in the heart of Solo City. It is nestled within the Chinatown village, the Balong area, right across the infamous Tien Kok Sie Temple. The name 'Gedhe' was granted because this market has a sizeable iconic roof. Built by a famous architect from the Netherlands, Thomas Karsten, the architectural design of Pasar Gedhe borrows the unique style of Dutch and Javanese traditional buildings. Despite undergoing several renovations, the original architecture of the market has been well preserved.

  • Keraton Kasunanan
    Keraton Surakarta Hadiningrat, more famously known as Keraton Kasunanan, was built by Sri Susuhan Pakubuwono II (Sunan PB II) in 1744 as a replacement Kartasura Palace which was destroyed in the Geger Pecinan incident in 1743.
  • Keraton Mangkunegaran
    Mangkunegaran Palace, was built in 1757 by Raden Mas Said or KGPAA Mangkunegara I. One of the most iconic features of the palace is its Pendopo, a gazebo-like structure often used for gatherings, ceremonies, and private events.
